Macular Degeneration and New Horizons
Macular degeneration is a progressive eye condition that affects the central part of the retina, known as the macula, leading to a gradual loss of central vision. This condition, most commonly seen in older adults, can make everyday tasks like reading, driving, and recognizing faces increasingly difficult.
Macular degeneration is typically classified into two types: dry (atrophic) and wet (neovascular), with the wet form being more severe and rapid in progression. Early detection and treatment can help slow the progression and preserve vision.
